What is the difference between Level Term Assurance and Mortgage Protection plans?

Level term assurance is designed to pay a lump sum benefit any point during the term of the policy on death or diagnosis of a critical illness (if selected). The lump sum amount is decided at the start of the policy and doesn't change through the life of the policy.

Mortgage protection is designed to pay a lump sum benefit any point during the term of the policy on death or diagnosis of a critical illness (if selected). However the lump sum amount decreases throughout the term in line with the outstanding balance of a mortgage. This is one of the cheapest ways to cover your mortgage.
